Penpal Letters

We were very excited to receive our penpal letters from ALBANY School in Brisbane. we opened them immediately and read them eagerly. We each have a penpal and we're writing our replies this week. We're going to answer their questions and give personal information about ourselves and also tell them about Picton the town and our school. We will write a draft reply first , edit it and then publish. We're allowed to choose the paper we use and we're allowed to decorate our letters. We're going to send photos of ourselves which Mrs.Mealings has taken.

Playing in the snow at St.Arnaud.

We had fun in the snow although we didn't get to go up to the ski field on this occasion. Our ski trip was postponed twice. When we did get to go we had a brilliant day despite the white out and semi blizzard conditions.
Just About Blind Skiing

On Monday, ….’skiing attempt number 3!!.....We first drove to the bottom Rainbow ski field carpark, we loaded up our bags onto the shuttle bus, the bus started and we drove off, all excited, up the muddy track.
There were lots of stunning views. But wait…when we got higher the views drifted away into fog.
We got to the top carpark and there were mounds of snow all over the place.
We jumped off the bus and crunched through the bright, white snow. Then we placed our bags under the café table. The café was warm.
We tramped down to get our boots and our skis ready to ski. We all had lessons, then e got free time to tray out our skiing. we had just trained for. I was having a last run on the beginners slope and I slipped over and whacked my head, it hurt, so I stopped and sat in the café and had a hot chocolate.
You wouldn’t think so, but you sweat up there. I really enjoyed myself. I would like to go again, but without the head whacking bit.

Working hard to master weaving Harakeke.

Georgia proudly displays her weaving as Jayden and Ashley look admiringly.

Dante Love and Ryan Endersby tackle an Angel Fish weaving.

We did flax weaving with Max's Mum Helen. She came into class with two 'assistants' and showed us what to do.First we had to go to the harakeke bush and say a karakia before cutting some flax leaves. We took our leaves back into class. Some of us made flax flowers and some of us wove Angel fish. Some of us could already weave so we helped the newcomers. The afternoon flew by and we got great results. We plan to show our weavings at our class assembly this Friday.
