Our Assembly

It is our assembly and we're going to read some of our poetry and show our printing and our Kidsline Posters plus our Thank You letters to Harold The Giraffe.
Here'sd one poem:
When I was...
When I was cycling on my bike,
I saw a toddler on his trike.
When I was eating a meat pie,
I saw some clouds up in the sky.
When I was swimming in the sea,
I saw a kid that looked like me
When I was running in the park,
I pretended to be a shark.
When I was climbing up a tree,
I slipped and badly scraped my knee.
When I was sitting on a train,
I did a puzzle and used my brain.

Mid Winter Swim

On Sunday, it was the mid Winter swim in Picton. 400 people went in the water, 600 watched. I jumped in the sea, it was freezing cold and then I ran as fast as I could out of the cold water,to the warm water which the fire truck was spraying. At the shower I talked to Ryan Endersby for a bit. When they sprayed water at you it burned because it was so hot especially after being in the cold, cold sea water. I did not get a prize but my friend Ben Hide did. All of Ryan's family got a prize they got it in a row. Willam Karena won the big prize he won the heat pump.After I went home and had a warm shower and got changed into warm clothes and had some lunch and watched tv. I give it an 8 out of 10 because the water was too cold and I did not get a prize.by Dylan Burns

Gymastics Festival

A group of 24 Year 5 and 6 went into the Stadium 2000 on Friday to perform in the Marlbourough Schools' Gymnastics Festival. They had been practising all term and we entered 5 teams in the B nad C grade events.Sam says "it was my second time and my favorite part was doing the formation with Josh, Conner M and Bayden and they were in my group." Dylan says " it was fun and it was funny because Oli got all 5 in every event." Oliver says " It was fun doing it and watching B grade do it, I reckon I did really well." Josh says" I thought the festival was really lots of fun, we got to go upstairs and eat morning tea and lunch after we performed.We watched the others perform. There were 500 kids in our sessions and 300 in the next one".Lara says" we had a fun time, I'm going to do it next year". Callum says" I saw my friends from my old school, I thought it was really good how every one did their formations , we'd practised really well. I think most people did well on the bar, my favourite bit was probably doing the skipping."

Term 2 , 2009

We have been doing printing for our Art. In Maths, we have been learning all about 2D and 3D shapes-we constructed shapes from nets and created our own nets. Harold the Giraffe from Life Education paid us a visit-we learned about our body systems-especially the respiratory one.We learned about the dangers of smoking and about making the right choices.We are busy raisinf money for our Wellington camp in November.Soon it will be the Gymnastics Festival and then the Music Festival so we are very busy-learning moves and words!

In Mathematics, we have been learning to tell the time in analogue and digital. We also did problem solving in time and made an out door sun dial. See Tori chalking in the time. We have been learning about Place Value in whole numbers and now we have moved on to decimals. Clever stuff eh?

2009

Well, Term 1 of the new year is well underway, we have been learning all about ourselves and about making choices.We have done Cycle Safety and practised our biking skills and signalling on the school court and then out on the main road.
We have been learning the De Bono Thinking hats and applying our thinking skills to lots of our work. We have learned about the different types of thinking which go with the different coloured hats.
We have made clay pots and are working on Cycle Safety.
